FAQ
The questions that come up most, answered straight. If yours is not here, the Contact page lists every way to reach the team.
What is the HR score?
The HR score is a 0–100 rating for each device, aggregated live from community ratings and verified critic input. It is the quick answer; the device page holds the deeper breakdown. The legend explains exactly how the system works.
How often do rankings update?
Continuously. Rankings are recomputed as votes and critic input land, so the order you see reflects the current state of the community, not a snapshot from last quarter.
I found a wrong spec. How do I get it fixed?
Open the device’s page in the catalog and choose “Suggest a correction” — it walks you through what the page shows, what it should show, and a source we can check. Suggestions are reviewed by the team and applied to the catalog — this is genuinely the fastest way to get device data corrected.
How do I become a critic?
Critic status is granted through an application. Start with the Critics section to meet the current critics and learn what the role involves, then submit a critic application through Help. Applications are reviewed manually.
What do the affiliate links mean?
Some retailer links are affiliate links: Hardware Ranked may earn a commission if you buy through them, at no extra cost to you. Commissions never affect scores or rankings — the full story is in the Affiliate Disclosure.
Do I need an account to use the site?
No — rankings, device pages, and comparisons are open to everyone. An account (via Shopify sign-in) is needed for the participatory side: rating devices, joining discussions, keeping favorites and owned lists, and submitting requests.
How do I delete my account?
From your Account page, choose Delete account. That erases your account and community data; comments other people replied to are anonymized instead of deleted, and order records may be retained where the law requires it. You can also request deletion by email — see the Privacy Policy for the details of what is removed.
Why did a device score change since yesterday?
Because the system is live. New community ratings, critic input, and catalog updates all move scores, so movement is expected — that is the point of a live ranking.
How do I contact the team?
Everything is on the Contact page: email, Discord, YouTube, and the signed-in request form at Help for feature requests, bug reports, critic applications, and corrections.
Who runs Hardware Ranked?
Hardware Ranked is run by DaveyG together with the Hardware Ranked community — the same people testing devices, making videos, and voting on the rankings. The About page tells the longer story.
